NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Sealed proposals, addressed to the Hickory County Commission, County Commission Office, P.O. Box 3,  Hermitage, MO  65668-0003, and endorsed "Proposal For Construction of Hickory County Bridge No. 05800151" will be received 10:00 o'clock A.M., Prevailing Local Time, on                                                                                  July 29, 2010 at the County Commission Offices in Hermitage, Missouri and at that time will be publicly opened and read.  The proposed work includes all of the following:

Construction of a double span, 134-foot long pre-stressed concrete I-girder bridge and any incidental work in accordance with the plans and specifications.  The project is located along county road 80 in Section 30 and 31, Township 38N, Range 20W, Hickory County, Missouri, over Starks Creek. The total length of the improvements is approximately 977 feet.

The Wage Rates applicable to this project have been predetermined as required by law and are set forth in the bid proposal.  When Federal Wage rates are applicable and included, this contract is subject to the "Wage Hours Act of 1962" (P.L. 87-581; 76 Stat. 357) and implementing regulations.  By virtue of statutory authority, preference shall be given on other than Federal Aid Projects to materials, products, supplies, provisions, and other articles produced, manufactured, made, or grown within the State of Missouri where same are of a suitable character and can be obtained at reasonable market prices in the State, are of a quality suited to the purpose intended and can be secured without additional cost over foreign products of products of other states.

The Hickory County Commission hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, ancestry or national origin in consideration for an award.  The bidder will insure that Disadvantaged Business Enterprises will have the opportunity to participate in the performance of this contract and or any subcontracts.  Goals for the amount of work to be awarded to DBE's will be 5%.

Bidders are informed that all contractors are subject to full compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, and the requirements of the Equal Opportunity Act as it is not the intent of the owner to arbitrarily dismiss any authorities.

Electronic Plans and specifications in PDF format may be obtained online from the GRA plan room at www.greatriv.com upon payment of $45.00, which is not refundable. All payments are processed online and the contractor is responsible for printing the documents.

The character and amount of security to be furnished by bidders is stated in the contract documents mentioned above.  Proposals must be on forms provided and all unit price bids, extensions and total provided thereon shall be completed fully.  The right is reserved to reject any or all bids.
